Als ich Ende 2011 im hohen Erwachsenenalter an mein Jugendhobby RC Car bauen und lenken (Elektro) anknüpfen wollte, und dahingehend mangels eines Fachgeschäftes in Duisburg im Internet rechercherte, flogen mir die Short Course Trucks nur so um die Ohren, obwohl es von mir aus nicht Liebe auf den ersten Blick war. Eigentlich wollte ich einen 2WD Buggy. Bei einem Fahrradausflug zum Wedauring des RCRT Duisburg sah ich auf der Strecke zum größten Teil diese Short Course Trucks herumrasen, mir gefiel das Fahrbild und konnte das mit den Videos der echten Short Course Trucks im Internet vergleichen, exakt identisch, das gefiel mir.
Die damals besuchten Internetseiten der "Echten" waren TORC (The Off-Road Championship) sowie LOORRS (Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series). Beide Rennserien sind 2009 entstanden und somit war das Phänomen der nachgeahmten Modellautos als auch Modellrennserien extrem jung. Der NORC (NRW Offroad Cup) startete ebenfalls 2009 unter Anderem mit der Klasse Short Course.
Abgesehen von Internetseiten, die sich mit Modellautos beschäftigen, betrachtete ich unregelmäßig TORC und LOORRS, um mir Anregungen zum Karosserie-Lackieren zu holen. In den meisten Fällen lief es auf #48 Ricky Johnson bzw. #7 Bryce Menzies (beide RedBull) hinaus, aber auch Monster Energy (diverse Fahrer) habe ich schon umgesetzt.
Tja, die Rennserie TORC wurde 2017 zum letzten Mal gefahren, so konnte ich fortan lediglich bei LOORRS lünkern, die hatten aber eh stets die spektakuläreren bunteren Bilder. Am 12. November 2020 schreibt LOORRS, die Serie würde 2021 nicht fortgesetzt (Originaltext unten). Da freut sich aber die Umwelt, dass diese Verschmutzung ein Ende hat. Hat das Auswirkungen auf mein Hobby?
Short Course Trucks gibt es bei den Deutschen Meisterschaften des DMC (Deutscher Minicar Club/Dachverband) ebenfalls seit 2017 Jahren nicht mehr, davon lässt sich die Rennserie NORC aber nicht beeindrucken und im RCRT Duisburg erfreuen sich die Short Course Trucks (speziell 2WD) ununterbrochen außerordentlicher Beliebtheit, durch das Erscheinen des Team Associated SC6.1 ist gar ein wahrer Boom ausgebrochen.
Am 6. Oktober 2020 wurde der SC6.2 als Nachfolger des SC6.1 angekündigt und am 27. November 2020 von Xray der SCX, also nach der LOORRS-Mitteilung. Nun, das lässt doch hoffen, dass wir auch in Zukunft noch viel Freude mit unseren Modellautos haben werden. Wenn doch nur bald wieder der Südring aufmacht, Werner.

(November 12th, 2020) – After considerable discussion, Lucas Oil Products has made the difficult decision to discontinue its ownership and operation of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Since 2009, the series has served as the preeminent platform for this exciting motorsport discipline, and has been widely recognized as the world’s premier short course off road racing championship series for more than a decade. The announcement also includes the discontinuation of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series.
"Lucas Oil has made the decision to discontinue owning and operating both the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series,” said Director of Race Operations, Ritchie Lewis. “This year, Lucas Oil made an incredible financial effort to keep our off road commitments to our employees, promoters, racers and sponsors, during arguably one of the roughest periods of time for our country. As we look ahead, there are too many variables that could impact the financial commitment and overall health of the series going forward, which necessitated this difficult course of action."
For the past 12 seasons, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has hosted a who’s who of racing’s most recognizable names, from current and future hall of famers like Rob MacCachren, Kyle LeDuc, and Carl Renezeder, to crossover stars like Brian Deegan, Jeremy McGrath, Carey Hart, and Jeff Ward. Perhaps even more significant is the series’ development of dynamic young driving talents who are poised to achieve success, no matter what they are driving. This includes budding NASCAR stars like Hailie Deegan and Sheldon Creed, along with short course off road’s ascending talents like RJ Anderson, Jerett Brooks, Brock Heger, Ryan Beat, and more.
“The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series could never have achieved the levels of success it did without the individuals who made it all happen - out on the racetrack.
